Atea, Denmark’s largest provider of IT infrastructure, acquires Axcess
release: Denmark’s largest Cisco partner joins Atea
Reliable, high-performance networks are the foundation of an effective IT infrastructure. This is part of the reason for Atea’s acquisition of Denmark’s leading network and security company, Axcess. The acquisition strengthens Atea’s position, making it the absolute leader in network, security, communication and data centre solutions in a market that increasingly demands core competencies and a wide range of services.
Ballerup, 4 December 2014 – Atea today announced the acquisition of Axcess A/S, bringing Atea Group 200 new employees and the addition of approximately DKK 700m in annual turnover. Atea Denmark now employs more than 1,550 employees, generating turnover of more than DKK 6 billion. For customers, the agreement means that Atea can now offer even stronger solutions and competencies in network, security, communication and data centre solutions.
Axcess will continue operations under its own name and brand. Following approval by the competition authorities, Axcess employees will move to Atea’s offices in Ballerup and Aarhus.
“Axcess is a successful company and with the merger we ensure that Atea can offer its customers the market’s best solutions. Atea’s current competencies in relevant areas will become part of the current Axcess organisation, whose turnover will double to more than DKK 1.2 billion. Combined with Atea’s existing competencies, the addition of Axcess is invaluable. We have chosen to retain the Axcess name to take advantage of the strong brand that it is today. Together, we can offer even stronger solutions and consulting in areas that are high on our customers’ wish list: networks, security, communication and solutions for data centres,” says CEO Morten Felding, Atea A/S.
The perfect match benefits customers
Atea is Denmark’s and the Nordic region’s largest provider of IT infrastructure. CEO Stig Abildsø from Axcess looks forward to joining the Atea Group:
“Axcess and Atea is probably the best match I have seen during my time in the IT industry. Our competencies complement each other completely – Axcess is the leading competence provider in network and security solutions, while Atea is very strong in areas such as data centres, virtualisation and video. My colleagues and I look forward to joining Atea and gaining access to Atea’s customer portfolio, and we also look forward to becoming part of a company with broad competencies in the field of IT infrastructure.”
Going forward, Atea’s network and security competencies will become part of the new business unit, which will comprise approximately 275 employees.
Axcess customers thereby gain access to the unique NaaS (Network as a Service) concept and a sales and service organisation spanning all of the Nordic countries. Axcess customers also gain access to an in-house boost in Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, Mobility and cabling competencies. Together, Atea and Axcess form the Nordic region’s largest competence centre, with more than 500 specialists in network, security, communication and data centre solutions.
The current Axcess management will continue in their posts and have responsibility for the new consolidated business unit. The merger does not include any plans of staff redundancies. The recently completed annual accounts at Axcess show turnover growth of 40% to DKK 586m and a profit before tax of DKK 33m.
“In 14 years, Axcess has created Denmark’s largest Cisco partner and now houses the largest number of certified Cisco CCIE consultants. These resources will now benefit Atea’s customers,” says Axcess CEO Stig Abildsø.
Atea Denmark has shown growth and profits in the first three quarters of 2014. It is now with great confidence that Atea once again charts a path showing what it takes to be Denmark’s leading provider of IT infrastructure.
“With the addition of Axcess, we gain competencies that strengthen our position as Denmark’s leading specialists and consultants for all customer needs in IT infrastructure. We continue to build an Atea where customers, partners and staff can develop with the industry’s most competent specialists,” says Atea A/S CEO Morten Felding.
